Test Cases

A test case register linked to this DRP's real, approved requirements — every case traces to a real requirement ID, never an invented one.

AI in this module

How AI suggestions work

Click "Get AI Suggestions" to have the AI draft or improve the Overview and Test Cases table together in one pass. This module is explicitly grounded in the requirements linked to this DRP (by their actual reference) — not just AI Knowledgebase search — so drafted test cases reference requirements that genuinely exist.

Every requirement linked to this DRP is offered to the AI, signed off or not. A requirement that still has a temporary reference is quoted by that reference, and Requio swaps it for the permanent one automatically once the Requirements module is finished — so there is no need to wait. If the drafted test cases look thin, link more requirements first.

Quality checks

What "Check Quality" looks for here

Every case traces to a real requirement. Cross-checks each Linked Requirement ID against the requirements really linked to this DRP.

Steps you could actually execute. Flags vague steps like "test the feature" instead of concrete, executable ones.

What it captures

A test case register verifying this DRP's real requirements — one row per test, each linked to the real Requirement ID it proves out.

Using this module

This module has two parts: an Overview — a short summary of the overall test approach — and a Test Cases table, where each row links to a real requirement on this DRP by its Requirement ID.

  1. 1Use "+ Add row" to add a test case, and the ✕ on a row to remove one.
  2. 2Set Linked Requirement ID to the reference of a requirement linked to this DRP — a test case with no real requirement behind it isn't worth tracking here.
  3. 3Write a short Scenario describing what the test actually covers, and any Preconditions that must be true before it can run.
  4. 4Write Test Steps concretely enough that someone unfamiliar with the project could actually execute them, and an Expected Result that says exactly what should happen if the test passes.
  5. 5Set Priority (High/Medium/Low) so testing effort can be triaged if time is short.
  6. 6Update Status (Not Started/Passed/Failed/Blocked) as testing actually happens.

Review and approval

Reviewed as a whole — the Overview and the Test Cases table together, in one sign-off. Once submitted it is read-only; to change it, press "Reopen to edit", which cancels the round and returns it to In progress.

Tips

  • "Export CSV", at the top of the page, downloads this table as a spreadsheet file — handy for sharing it with someone who works in Excel.
  • This module feeds the Traceability Matrix module directly — keep Test Case IDs stable once set, since the matrix references them by ID.
  • Needs this DRP to have requirements linked to draft against — it's most useful once the Requirements module is reasonably settled.
