Solution Scope
Defines clearly what is in and out of scope. Prevents scope creep and aligns stakeholder expectations.
AI in this module
How AI suggestions work
Click "Get AI Suggestions" to draft or improve both In Scope and Out of Scope together in one pass, grounded in the rest of the DRP's content and any AI Knowledgebase documents. Drafting them together helps the AI keep the boundary consistent — an item proposed as in scope won't also show up as out of scope.
Suggestions appear as one card per field in the right-hand panel, each with its own "Apply" button (or use "Apply all"). Applying a suggestion replaces that field's current text with the AI's markdown-formatted draft.
Quality checks
What "Check Quality" looks for here
In Scope and Out of Scope don't collide. Flags any overlap or contradiction between the two lists — the most common source of scope disputes.
A real exclusions list. Flags a thin or missing Out of Scope for a project of this size — a common, costly omission.
What it captures
What is explicitly in scope and out of scope for this project — the boundary that prevents scope creep.
Using this module
This module has two rich-text fields: In Scope and Out of Scope. Write each as a bulleted list of short, concrete statements — this reads far better than a paragraph and is easy for a reviewer to scan.
- 1Use the bullet-list button in the editor toolbar so each item is its own line.
- 2Write In Scope first — what the project will deliver.
- 3Write Out of Scope next — call out anything a reader might reasonably assume is included but isn't. This is often the more valuable of the two lists.
Review and approval
Reviewed as a whole, when its review level is Module-level: its reviewers and approver are assigned to the whole module (both In Scope and Out of Scope together) from the project's Modules tab, or overridden on this DRP's Review Assignments tab, and it moves through the same In progress → In review → Awaiting approval → Approved flow every whole-module module uses.
Tips
- An explicit "out of scope" list is often more valuable than the "in scope" list — it heads off assumptions before they become disputes.
- Revisit this module if requirements start appearing that don't fit the original scope — it may need a formal update via Change Control & Governance.
